Courses offered by CDE

The range of courses offered by CDE is as broad as what USP offers from the humanities to the sciences field. There are 2 categories of courses that students can enrol into:

(1) Semester-based courses
This is similar to our 15 week courses where there is a specified start & end date. There is an element of flexibility where lessons (units) can be completed by students at different periods within the 15 week.

(2) Year long courses
This offers more flexibility & an element of self-paced learning for students. Students can enrol into yearlong courses at anytime that they wish to. Courses should be completed 12 months from date of enrolment. Extensions are occassionally given at the discretion of the instructor up to a maximum of 9 months. With this category of courses, it becomes quite complex when dealing with book nos., course development & instructor time. If say for instance, a textbook edition changes which requires a revision of the print components, the instructor has to be quite flexible in this regard & could be referring to 2 versions of a print component at any one time. Students who are already undertaking such courses when revision occurs have the option to switch to the newly revised print package.
